Foster Care? Really?

It's been awhile since I've posted, but I wanted to update you on our chaos. We have since become a foster home for rats. I know what you are thinking...what the hell?

It all started out innocent enough. We were sitting down as a family watching the recent hit, "The Blindside". What a fabulous movie and if you haven't watched yet, I would make it top on my priority list! Anywho...watching the movie and my kids ask if we could take in foster children. I think this is a great idea! Why not add more craziness to our already crazy lives. So we talk about it, like we do everything. You have a thought, a question, a concern? Sure...let's talk it to death.

We start with the benefits:

1. Our kids are great examples for their peers and could be a huge help with children who may not have the guidance or people in their lives who lead by example.
2. We have the space.
3. We have the love.

All kinds of great benefits. In my head, I'm thinking "are you kidding me?" I love my family, I love my kids, I love my life...none of that equates to wanting to add potential child Psychologist bills. But in my heart, I know it's important to teach my children love for all, and charity and doing the right thing...so we became Foster parents...for rats. So far we have created a warm and welcoming haven for 6 baby rats and we are getting 6 more on Saturday.

So the moral of my story is when you think you don't have the time or space to give of yourself...you're wrong...you do! We did! :)
